Materials required:
- Bottle (plastic)
- Water
- Pin
- Bucket
Procedure:
- Make 4 to 5 holes at the bottom of the bottle.
2. Make one hole at the neck of the bottle.
3. Fill the bottle with water and close the cap.
4. Put your finger on the hole at the neck of the bottle.
5. Look at the holes at the bottom, you will observe that the water is not coming out of the holes.
6. Now remove your finger from the hole at the neck of the bottle.
7. Continuously open and close the holes at the neck with your finger.
Observation:
You will find that when you put your finger at the hole, the water is not falling but if you remove your finger then the water starts to fall.
Reason:
When you put the finger on the hole, the outside air cannot go inside and push the water. There is no pressure of air so the water did not fall. But when you remove the finger, then outside air goes inside through that hole and push the water as a result the water comes out. So, the water comes out due to air pressure.
